The young, talented nature photographer Serkan Günes, was born in Istanbul in 1980 and moved to Sweden in the year 2000. He now lives in Stockholm with his wife Azize, who gave him his first camera on his 22nd birthday. This date marks a significant change in Serkan’s life. It was then that his passion for playing the guitar shifted to nature photography. With his new camera he went in to the Swedish woodlands, visited lakes and went for excursions to the archipelago. It was here he discovered the Nordic light.
Serkan is the first and only Swede who has won the "Eric Hosking Award" for the best portfolio taken by a young photographer. This competition is organized by BBC Wildlife Magazine and the Natural History Museum in London, and is recognized as the most prestigious wildlife photography award in the world today. His work is also widely published in Scandinavia, Turkey, England, France, Germany, Holland and Japan.
Serkan takes great pleasure in wildlife photography but landscape photography dwells in his heart. His poetic, unique image style and his keen sense for light truly capture and reveal nature at its best.
