“It’s often about birds, it’s often about these wonderful creatures flying… about action shots in authentic, primitive surroundings. It’s about saving great moments and finding new ones…. It’s about passion….”

Finland has a strong tradition of nature photography which Markus Varesvuco wanted to follow. He was born in 1960 and got his Master of Science in Business Economics in 1987. With birding in its many forms as a hobby, he took his first bird notes at the age of 11, studied and observed birds at the age of 16 when it became his passion. He specialized in bird photography in his late 20’s and gradually became a full-time wildlife photography in 2005. Being an avid bird watcher all his life, gave him a solid basis for becoming a wildlife photographer, specialized in birds.

“Wildlife photography, birds especially, is challenging; it is rewarding, exhilarating, and can offer the purest kind of beauty quite unexpectedly. Yet, like in all photography, careful preparation is the key to successful shots”.

Through his work, Markus aspires to capture the abundance of animal behaviour and beauty that without photography we would know nothing of. A camera captures what an eye cannot see nor a brain can register. Markus Varesvuo won numerous international awards and was honored for his achievements in many publications.
